Youth Group Kick Against Calls For Sack Defense Minister
The youths in Jigawa state, particularly those under the banner of Jigawa All Progressives Congress (APC) have been urged to exercise restraint and focus on constructive contributions to national security rather than engaging in divisive and baseless campaigns.
The plea came from the Plateau Youths for Sustainable Development, in a press release on Saturday in Bauchi where they described as unfortunate and unfounded the calls by a group of Jigawa APC Youths demanding the removal of the Minister of Defence, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar.
The statement signed by group’s chairman, Comrade Solomon Yanet Ndam, noted that the appointment Muhammad Badaru Abubakar as Minister of Defence is the best thing that has happened to the country, hence it will be an error of judgment if the APC in Jigawa State did not rally support for the Minister of Defence.
“We strongly believe that the security of our nation is a collective responsibility, transcending political, regional, or ethnic affiliations. It is regrettable that some individuals are choosing to politicize this critical issue for personal or partisan gain, rather than supporting efforts to ensure sustainable peace and stability in our dear nation”, the youths said.
The Plateau youths also cautioned the Jigawa politicians and their affiliates to refrain from politicizing the security situation in the country. stressing that security is a matter of national importance that demands a united front, free from political manipulation.
“The use of inflammatory rhetoric and unnecessary distractions only embolden those who threaten our nation’s peace. As youths of Plateau State, we stand in solidarity with the Federal Government and all Nigerians who are committed to sustainable development and national security”.
Comrade Solomon Ndam therefore called on all youths across the country to join hands in promoting unity, peace, and development rather than amplifying divisive narratives.
He the entire people of Plateau state appreciate the Minister of Defence, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar in his effort in engaging critical stakeholders in Plateau state in bringing lasting peace in their state and Nigeria at large.
Ndam explained that the appointment of Muhammad Badaru Abubakar as Minister of Defence was made by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria based on his competence, integrity, and proven track record in public service”.
“Since assuming office, the Minister has worked diligently alongside security agencies to address Nigeria’s security challenges. Any attempt to undermine his efforts by calling for his removal without tangible evidence of incompetence is counterproductive and unpatriotic”.
He also urged every stakeholder, including the media partners, to prioritize factual reporting and promote a narrative of unity, resilience, and hope for a more secure and prosperous Nigeria.
