10m tons capacity cement factory in Bauchi reaches advance stage – Commissioner

The Honourable Commissioner Bauchi state ministry for Natural Resources, Muhammad Maiwada Bello has disclosed that the commencement of 10 million tons capacity cement plant in the state has reached an advance stage.
Speaking in an interview with newsmen yesterday, the Commissioner said the initiative is part of a strategic moves by the present administration under Bala Mohammed to transform Bauchi State’s economy.
According to him, the major cement factory in Gwana District, Alkaleri Local Government Area has reached advanced stage and that the state government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Resident Cement Company and its Korean partners to establish the cement plant with an impressive annual capacity of 10 million tons.
He said that the initiative is part of Governor Bala Mohammed’s relentless drive and commitment to industrializing Bauchi state.
“The governor’s foresight and determination to bring lasting economic change to Bauchi State have earned him widespread admiration”, the Commissioner said.
He stated that Bala Mohammed who is known for his ambitious development agenda has positioned the state to attract high-value investments that promise to secure a prosperous future for generations to come.
Bello said the Governor’s unwavering dedication to the welfare of Bauchi people is clearly reflected in this project, which stands as a testament to his leadership.
“Valued at approximately $1.5 billion, the cement factory is set to be a landmark project with far-reaching benefits across several sectors, all made possible through the governor’s hands-on approach and strategic partnership-building efforts”, the Commissioner added.
According to him, the cement plant is projected to operate for up to 100 years, becoming a lasting pillar of economic development for Bauchi State.
“This initiative is expected to inject new momentum into the state’s economy, create substantial job opportunities, and enhance the quality of life for residents—all thanks to the governor’s visionary planning”, the Commissioner pointed out.
He said that the factory will create employment opportunities for over 10,000 skilled and unskilled youths across the state, addressing unemployment and providing career opportunities for local residents.
He added that the move underscores the Governor’s commitment to tackling unemployment, a key issue affecting the state, and providing avenues for youth empowerment and poverty reduction.
