11 suspects in NSCDC net for vandalizing rail line in Bauchi

Eleven suspects have been arrested by the operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) over alleged vandalization of railway installations in Bauchi state.
Parading the suspects Saturday, the Commandant, Bauchi state Command of the NSCDC, Ilelaboye Oyejide, said the operatives, arrested got the suspects and impounded a truck loaded with stolen railway materials and other properties in the state.
He said that the suspects were arrested at two different occasions for various offenses related to the vandalization of national critical assets.
According to the Commandant, nine of the suspects were caught vandalizing railway sleepers and cutting of rail in Zuli Village, Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area, with the assistance of the Nigerian Army.
According to him, two other suspects were apprehended for vandalising Bauchi State government properties, including removing windows and aluminum.
The NSCDC Commandant said that the suspects would be investigated and prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others.
He reiterated the readiness of of his command towards ensuring that national critical assets and infrastructure are adequately protected.
The Commandant who advised parents and guardians not to allow their children engage in such activities, stated that the arrest made and the recovered materials are a significant success in the fight against vandalism in Bauchi State.
