2023 Eid-el Kabir: Gov Bala reminds Muslims on the importance of giving
Samuel Luka, Bauchi
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state has reminded the Muslim faithfuls on the importance of giving as written in the Holy Qur’an.
The Governor who stated this in a goodwill message through the office of his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Mukhtar Gidado on Wednesday, said that the Holy Qur’an has commanded all Muslims to give something (in charity) out of the treasure which Allah has bestowed on them.
“This should be done without consideration for religious, ethnic or political differences”, the Governor further explained.
Bala who expressed gratitude to Allah for this year’s Eid-el Kabir festivity, said that the period is observed annually by Muslims to commemorate the spiritual sacrifice made by Prophet Abraham (AS) who, in total submission to the will of Allah, answered the Divine call to sacrifice his only son, Prophet Ismail (AS).
The Governor urged the Muslim faithfuls to use the period and reflect on how they have fared morally and spiritually during the last one year in order to take corrective measures, where necessary for them to be amongst the believers who will enjoy the mercies of Allah (SWT) in the hereafter.
Governor Bala described Islam as a religion that propagates total submission to the will of Allah (SWT) and peaceful co-existence amongst the Muslim Ummah and with adherents of other faiths.
He tasked Muslims to use the Eid–el Kabir occasion to strengthen the existing interpersonal relationships and create new ones as well as imbibe the spirit of forgiveness, humility and respect for one another.
The Bauchi Governor called for prayers so that the prevailing peace in the State can be sustained and for Allah to provide adequate rainfall in order to have a bumper harvest during this farming season.
Bala further reassured the people of Bauchi state of his administration’s irrevocable commitment to justify the confidence reposed in him.
He assured that the administration will embark on aggressive execution of programmes and projects that have direct bearing on their lives.
“We would deliver more dividends of democracy than we did during our first term in infrastructural development, health care delivery, education, agriculture and human capital development through economic empowerment”, the Governor promised.
Governor Bala who said that his government is not unmindful of the economic hardship being experienced by the generality of the people, noted that the national problem is being jointly addressed by the Federal and State Governments.
