2023: Student Union endorses ex-Air force Chief, Sadeeq for Bauchi Governor

The immediate past Chief of Air staff, Air Marshal Sadeeq Baba Abubakar (retired) has been called upon to contest for the seat of governor of Bauchi state in the coming 2023 guber election.
A group known as Air Marshal Abubakar Sadeeq Student’s Forum which made the call while addressing a press conference on Monday at NUJ Secretariate Bauchi, noted that Sadeeq Abubakar possesses the needed leadership qualities to lead Bauchi state to the promise land.
Speaking, the Public Relations Officer of the Forum, Comrade Aliyu Hussaini said that the forum is aimed at critically identifying the problems bedeviling the indigenous Students of Bauchi in order to project solutions by engaging expertise in various sections.
“AMASS Forum is lately concerned with numerous problems of Bauchi state Students, hence press conference is thereby necessary to share with the world the pathetic situation of students in the state and projecting solutions”, he said.
The forum expressed concerns about the plights of 200 students of Malikiyya college of health that enjoyed sponsorship by the previous government but got terminated by current administration.
“We are traumatized by the method of local Scholarship that is partially disbursed to few while segregating Higher Islamic Students whom happened to be the majority beneficiaries”, the forum said.
They alleged that other Tertiary institutions are only paid when Election is fast approaching after waiting for 4 years, adding that “this is the least records of Scholarship disbursed in the history of the state”.
The forum also decried that International Scholarship has been stopped despite seeing from neighboring states such as Yobe and Borno every year and on batches bases.
The forum said Sadeeq Abubakar is capable of turning around the fortune of not only education in the state but other sectors of the economy going by his vast administrative experience, adding that for over 10 years, he has been offering scholarship to indigenous Bauchi Students in Maiduguri university.
The forum said Sadiq has apart from purchasing JAMB scratch cards for over 600 students to further their education, sponsored 21 others to study in India, including numerous others within Bauchi state.
The Forum said their preferred candidate has during his days in the Nigeria Air force ensured that sons and daughters of Bauchi were given adequate space in the recruitment of Air force Officers, among several contributions to the development of the people of Bauchi state.
