Association named N5m technology center built in ATBU after ex-tetfund boss, Bogor

An association in bubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) has honored the former Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (Tetfund), Professor Elias Sulaiman Bogoro by naming a Technology center after him.
The Chairman of the association known as National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), Engr. Muhammad Bashir said on Tuesday that the gesture was to appreciate the former Tetfund boss for prioritizing the training of technologists while he was in office.
He said that the center is purposely meant to train technologists of the University to advance their skills in accordance with international standards.
Engr. Muhammad Bashir added that the centre was built to upscale the technological advancement and research work of the members to enable them impart up-to-date knowledge on their students.
“The world is changing and we need to be ahead of our students. Technology is dynamic, so also we must be trained and retrained”, he said.
Engr Bashir who explained that the center would serve as a place for research work and training of members of the association.
“Artificial Intelligence (AI) is taking over many sectors and we feel this should be part of our contributions to train ourselves”, the chairman added.
He pointed out that Prof Bogoro apart from prioritising the training of technologists, also made it in such a way that the importance of the training is felt in the university system.
“This is the reason we have decided to name the centre after him. He trained so many of our members. He did so well among those who left the school to head government agencies and parastatals”, he further said.
He said naming the center after Bogoro was a consensus one due to his enormous contributions to the University, education system and the nation in general.
He added that NAAT is in process to partner with an international library where technologists of the University can access research materials remotely to advance their work.
“We have sent a letter to them but we are waiting for a positive response”, he said.
Bashir who said the Centre is a N5 million project started by his predecessor which he completing, noted that it is been financed from members’ contributions.
According to him, the Centre is constructed to have an internet cafe and pharmacy.
The Chairman said that the Centre would employ about 10 staff who would manned it on shifting bases.
