Tribute to Dr. Adamu as he clocks a year in office.

It is not an uncommon phenomenon that naturally some men are selfless. They are essentially magnanimous, disciplined and visionaries.These are some of the qualities that could be ascribed with none other but Dr. Alhaji Adamu Saidu whose presence is appreciated by all well meaning individuals and one which is hoped to perpetuate.

Like a dream, days pass when one is not counting as one will be marveled to know that a year has passed marking the appointment of the ultimate contributor, giant achiever, growth driver who stands out to be preeminent. He is widely referred to as man of unquestionable integrity and courage, Dr.Alhaji Adamu Saidu as the rector of Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic, Bauchi.

A brief biography of his will explain vividly whom the man Dr. Alhaji Adamu Saidu is.Alhaji Adamu Saidu was born here in Bauchi, 53 years ago to the family of Late Alhaji Saidu Adamu (Telan Bangon) and Late Hajiya Fatima Muhammad Bello. The young Alhaji was enrolled into Shekal Primary School here in Bauchi where he completed his primary education and he later move to Government Secondary School, Futuk for his secondary education before proceeding to the Federal polytechnic Bauchi for his A.E.O (Gen) Certificate (1989), Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Uuiversity for Diploma and Advance Diploma Business Management (1997- 1999), University of Jos for B. Sc. Public Admin (2007), famous Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria for his Masters in Public Admin (2010), Usman Danfodio for PGD Education (2010) and he also attended University Utara Malaysia for his Ph.D Public Management in 2017.

After completion of his one year certificate programme at Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, He joined the service of Bauchi State Government through Hospitals Management Board as an Assistant Executive Officer (Gen) on 11th March 1991 and rose to the rank of Chief executive Officer, during the period of his Administrative career he served as an Administrative Hospital Secretary at various Hospitals that includes General Hospital Shira/Yana, Ningi, Darazo and Toro since from the 1991 to 2003.

From then, Dr. Adamu Saidu saw the need to render his services to people through education, hence started his full teaching career as a Lecturer with the College of Administrative and Business Studies (CABS) Azare which was later merged with Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic, Bauchi, where he rose to the position of a Principal Lecturer before.

Dr Adamu Saidu is affiliated with several professional bodies as a member these include West African Society for Communication and Administration (WASOCA) and Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) among others. He has many academic publications both national and international to his name. He is married with children and takes to reading, swimming, fishing and charitable organizations as his hobbies.

Adamu Sa’idu is currently the Rector of Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic Bauchi state appointed last year August 7th by the Bala Muhammed administration. His appointment came at a time when the Bala Muhmmed Administration was in a quest for erudite scholars who have the passion and vision to take education to a greater height and length and to ensure that the future generation are well educated by bringing the likes of Adamu Saidu.

With the emergence of Dr. Alhaji Adamu Sa’idu as Rector, the polytechnic is beginning to wear a new look as it is believed that it is not without his effort that the government is in construction of road networks in the campus to access unit buildings as well as construction of culverts which the government has approved.

It’s on the record that the rector is one of the most workaholic, because since he assumed office the polytechnic turned out to be the best in the whole north east as it steals the limelight. One will not be wrong to say the appointment of Dr. Adamu Saidu is one of the crème de la crème appointments so far in the Bala Muhammed’s administration.

Achievements recorded under his leadership in one year cannot be overemphasized. To widen the horizon of staff of the polytechnic, Dr. Adamu in his own wisdom had paved way where ATAP was approached by many institutions for collaboration in the training of staff, research and other academic programs.

Looking at the physical projects done within a year old tenure of the rector, even a blind person can feel and testify to his giant stride. These achievements provided students with a good atmosphere for learning.

When it comes to student – teacher relation, Dr. Saidu is the best for this, because he ensured students welfarism going round classes to see his students and listened to them. As a seasoned academia, successful his achievements and giant efforts within a year is commendable.

This person is a rare personality in this world, his track record will certainly continue to speak volume from all atmosphere.

I believe Dr. Saidu will take ATAP to a greater heights as I wish him Allah’s guidance and protection.
