FUHSA Matriculates Over 900 Students

The Federal University of Health Sciences Azare (FUHSA), Katagum local government area of Bauchi state, conducted its second matriculation ceremony for newly admitted students, numbering about 1000, into the 2023–2024 academic session.
Speaking during the event, Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Bala Mohammad Audu, congratulated the newly admitted students for securing admission into the institution.
The vice chancellor informed the new students that matriculation is a cardinal requirement for them, as admitted students, to be officially recognised as bona fide members of the university.
“As tradition demands, we gathered here today to perform this pre-requisite function of officially inducting you into the mainstream of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Azare Community,” the VC further explained.
“Let me make it clear to you that many qualified persons like you are out there looking for admission but could get admitted into any institution. You should therefore note that “there is no sweet without sweat,” he added.
Professor Abubakar Dauda Katagum CMD proposed Teaching Hospital for FUHSA, who congratulated the new students, also admonished them to be law-abiding and face their studies with all the seriousness they deserve to enable them to graduate successfully to the admiration of their parents, the university, and the nation.
The Vice Chancellor, who expressed gratitude to the Pioneer Chancellor of the university, the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Samaila Muhammad Mera, assured the Chancellor that the staff, students, and host community would accord him all the needed support and cooperation to enable him to succeed as the chancellor of the federal institution.
The vice chancellor also appreciated the profile of the chancellor as a distinguished Nigerian who has worked in the academic environment and as an administrator per excellence.
The vice chancellor, who described the profile of the Pioneer Chancellor and its potential as a serious development for the university community, expressed optimism that the university will no doubt witness rapid development.
In his speech, the Pioneer Chancellor, His Royal Highness, Emir of Argungu Alhaji Samaila Muhammad Mera, commended the vice chancellor for the effective administration of the university.
While thanking Governor Bala Mohammed for making motor vehicles available for the dignitaries during the event, the Chancellor commended the university management for securing the addition of eight more programmes to the existing five programmes when the university took off.
“The prompt admission of students into these programmes is appreciated and is considered a testament to the commitment of the university management to achieve the objectives for which the university was tablished,” he said.
In a vote of thanks, Deputy Vice Chancellor Admin, Dr. Alkali Mohammed, appreciated the Bauchi State Government for always considering the university as its own and rendering assistance in terms of needs.
He also thanked HRH (Dr.) Umar Faruq 11 Emir of Katagum, Hon. (Dr.) Auwalu Audu Gwalabe, a House of Representatives member representing Katagum constituency at the National Assembly, the Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre Azare, the Provost of FCE Jama’are, the Provost of COE Azare, and the Vice Chancellor of Bauchi State University, who was represented by Dr. Kabiru Karamba, Director of Research, among others.
