International Day In Yobe Wants Youth Harness Digital Tools for Social Impact

Participants of the International Youth Day in Damaturu have been enjoined to continue using their digital platforms not just for raising awareness but for creating impactful, real-world solutions.

Yobe Peace & Community Development Initiative (YOPCODI) Executive Director, Muhammad Talba who made the plea, said that the event is a testament to the ability of young people to lead and inspire change both online and in the real World.

“We are thrilled by the enthusiasm and passion shown by the youth today”, Talba said, stressing that the collaboration and support of partner ActionAid Nigeria, the event has led to a wide reaching impact”, Talba said.

The YOPCODI BoT Chairman, Alh. Baba Shehu has said in a keynote address to the occasion, said that the event underscored the potential of youth in harnessing digital tools for social impact, and urged the youth to go beyond online activism and take tangible actions in their Communities.

According to the YOPCODI Communication Officer, Abdlrazak Yakubu, the collaboration with ActionAid Nigeria significantly contributed to the success of the event, with their support ensuring a wide-reaching impact.

“Participants were also inspired by stories from young activists who have successfully transitioned from online to offline efforts, demonstrating that with the right mindset and tools, significant progress can be achieved”.

The theme was, “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development.” which brought together youth from the communities of Bayamari, Garin Gunja, Tarbutu & Tudun Wada to discuss the crucial role of digital engagement in driving real-world change.
