UMTH CMD commended for ensuring effective service despite flood effect

Chief Medical Director of University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), Prof Ahmed Ahidjo has been commended for keeping the hospital in active service despite the recent devastating flood which submerged the entire hospital.

The minister of health, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate who made the commendation when he visited the hospital recently, expressed delight over the tireless efforts of the CMD and his management team to ensure health care delivery to the patients after the flood.

“On behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria, I extend our sincere appreciation for this invaluable support”, the minister said.

He added that, “I would also like to acknowledge and commend the extraordinary leadership and dedication of 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. π€π‘π¦πžπ 𝐀𝐑𝐒𝐝𝐣𝐨, the Chief Medical Director of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital”.

Prof Pate said that the unwavering commitment to the UMTH by the Chief Medical Director, especially during the challenging times, has been exemplary.

“From the onset of the flooding, Prof. Ahidjo and his team have worked tirelessly, often under immense pressure, to ensure that the hospital remains operational and that patients continue to receive the needed care”, the minister noted.

Prof Fate maintained that the efforts of the CMD along with those of the hospital management, are deeply appreciated.

According to him, such efforts serves as a model of leadership in times of crisis.

The health minister who stressed that the federal government remains dedicated to supporting the recovery process of the university of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, added that the Federal Ministry of Health will continue to provide the necessary assistance to UMTH.

He further explained that the ministry is also working closely with the Borno State Government and development partners to mobilize additional resources for the complete restoration of the hospital and its facilities.
