Farmers Group To Synergise Texas Government To Boost Agricultural production

The Bauchi state Secretary of the Nigerian Farmers and Rearers Association (NIFRA), Alhaji Umar Buba Misau has said that the organization is to synergise with the government of Texas, United States of America in order to boost Agricultural production in the country.

Misau who spoke to our Corresspondent in an exclusive telephone interview yesterday, noted that the organization is merging with others to become National Association of Livestock Dealers, Marketers, Processors of Nigeria.

He said, so far, a constitution drafting Committee has been formed in which two of his members are representing them, one as a member and the other one, Barrister Hussaini Saraki as the secretary of the Committee.

He said after the drafting of the constitution, a date would be fixed for Congress during which leaders of the Association would emerged.

“There is a department that is in charge of inducting each organization of Agricultural value chain, that’s the Federation of Agricultural Commodities of Nigerian Association (FACAN), we were called for the 2-days workshop by the FACAN, at the international conference center Abuja”, Misau explained.

He said that the aim of the workshop was to help in harnessing the potentialities of Agriculture and Livestock farming in Nigeria in order to end hunger in the land in accordance with harshtag of the conference “#EndhungerToday”.

Misau said that the conference was aim at fastracking President Muhammadu Buhari’s economic diversification agenda through Agricultural production from oil to Non oil sector.

According to him, the agenda which is being carried out through the federal ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the federal ministry of trade and industry and investment as well as Federation of Agricultural Commodities Association of Nigeria (FACAN) will no doubt, create wealth for the country.

He said others include the FCT AgriCon, the Department of Agriculture United States of America.

Misau said, so many opportunities were created for the participants within the Agricultural Export and Import in order to diversify the country’s economy to Agriculture.

He said that the American Commissioner of Agriculture for state of Texas who was one of the discussants elaborated that Nigeria and Texas state will synergise in the area of Export and Import.

Misau noted that the Texas Commissioner explained that the synergy is going to be through the Nigerian Commodities Export Association and even Individuals who wish to collaborate with the state of Texas Department of Agriculture in order to boost the sector.

He said that the synergy will give opportunity for organizations or individuals in Nigeria who has the Agricultural commodities to export if they so wish.

He said after the National Congress in which the leaders of the Association are expected to emerged, they will signed a memorandum of understanding with the Texas government towards Export and Import of Agricultural commodities.
