Like Bauchi Reps member Abdullahi, Ex-speaker Dogara loses traditional title of Jakadan Bauchi

Bauchi emirate council has on Monday announced the indefinite suspension of the immediate past speaker of the house of representatives, Rt. Yakubu Dogara from the traditional title of Jakadan Bauchi over recent attack on Emirs of Bauchi and Dass.
Recalled that the two Emirs were attacked by hoodlums on their way to Bogoro local government area to honor an invitation for the 21st memorial anniversary of late Sayawa Sage, Baba Peter Gonto.
Dogara’s suspension is coming months after the house of representatives member for Bauchi federal constituency, Honourable Yakubu Shehu Abdullahi was indefinitely suspended by the Bauchi emirate council from holding the title of Wakilin Birnin Bauchi over alleged disrespect for the emir during Sallah durbar.
A press release from the emirate on Monday said that the former speaker was been suspended over his alleged indictment on the recent Bogoro and Tafawa Balewa violent protest that disrupted the 21st memorial anniversary of the late Sayawa Sage, Baba Peter Gonto on 31st December, 2021.
According to the press release, the decision was based on deliberations on the allegations brought against the former Speaker before the Emirate Council chaired by the Emir of Bauchi, Dr Rilwanu Sulaimanu Adamu.
It added that, based on the decision, the former speaker who is currently representing Bogoro Dass and Tafawa Balewa in the house of representatives has for now, ceased to use the title of Jakadan Bauchi for any form of identification.
The Galadiman Bauchi, Surveyor Ibrahim Saidu Jahun who conveyed the decision to Journalists on Monday added that the suspension is with immediate effect.
He said that the suspension will remain effective pending the determination of a case on the Bogoro and Tafawa Balewa violent protest which was instituted by the Bauchi state government indicting Yakubu Dogara.
“It was uncalled for, that Yakubu Dogara, being one of those who is from Bogoro LGA and a traditional title holder of the revered Bauchi Emirate Council among Emirate Councils in the North to be suspected of been one of those behind the attack on the Emirs of Bauchi and Dass”, he said.
“At the recent Council meeting, we reviewed the case again and expressed our dismay on one of the sons of the area, a stakeholder and our traditional title holder who was mentioned as one misleading the people and perpetrating the incident”, the Galadiman Bauchi noted.
He added that, “More surprisingly, he did not sympathize nor show any sign of remorse towards what happened to their Royal Highnesses, the Emirs of Bauchi and Dass”, he said.
Surveyor Jahun said, “the Emirate Council has therefore decided to suspend his title of Jakadan Bauchi until the determination of the case against him by the court”.
Bauchi State Government has instituted a criminal case at the state High Court against Yakubu Dogara and 27 others believed to have been linked to the crisis.
