Current fuel scarcity, a clear case of Nigerians against Nigerians.

By Muhammad Umar Shehu and Dangana Henry Joseph

The beauty of democracy is to deliver dividends of democracy to populace and or average and poor masses. However, following the current prevailing fuel scarcity across Nigeria, many have been subjected to untold hardship.

The masses have been left in lamentations and grudges over the lingering fuel scarcity in the country which have continue to bit harder, thereby negatively impacting on their living standard.

Despite assurance by the Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigeria National Petroleum Cooperation that the fuel scarcity would end as of last week, marketers of the essential product have continued to hide hord it, thereby exposing the masses into untold hardship.

One may not be wrong to adjudge the current fuel scarcity in the country as an act of wickedness and insensitivity of those responsible to an average Nigerian, it is a problem cause among us and not by a foreigner.

Going by the circumstances surrounding the scarcity of fuel in the country one would easily conclude that it is a deliberate plan orchestrated by marketers of the product to regulate within themselves on how they will be selling the products at an exhobitant price.

Today, as citizens goes out to buy fuel, you find out that among the petroleum stations in a particular place only one station is selling, then the next day you see a different one selling fuel, this is indicating a kind of conspiracy among the marketers to financially milk to poor and average Nigerian dry.

It may not be out of point for one to conclude that the scarcity of fuel currently being witnessed is a deliberate act to inflict untold hardship on the masses.

A driver yesterday in Jos confided on us that truly if all fuel stations would be sincere and open all their stations without withholding the commodity the issue of fuel scarcity would be a thing of the past.

Yes, Nigerians are suffering at this very hard situation because of the scarcity of fuel the country is facing and our marketers are the cause, since they have the fuel but they don’t want to sell it to the general public.

This plan by the marketers is absolutely a set up to generate more profits, this can better be considered as an action of Nigerians against Nigerians which should not be allowed to continue because even if you don’t directly suffer from the current situation, your friends, relatives and families may suffer have a bitter taste of the unsavory condition.

This is a right time for all Nigerians to battle together and bring an end to this menace that is being imposed on us all, most especially, the poor masses by some people with vested interest, people who only care about their personal interests without thinking about the danger they will put others in.

The federal government through NNPC has assured us of more than 1billon litres of fuel in stock, but then, why is it that fuel scarcity keeps on without ceasing? Though we attributes this menace to our fuel marketers because they have the fuel in their filling station but they intend not to sell.
The motorists and the fellow Nigerians are suffering because of the scarcity of fuel and if care is not taking the matter will result to something else that we are not praying for, so we deemed it necessary to call on the authorities in charge to please bring an end to this issue of fuel scarcity in the country.

The fuel scarcity in the country if allowed to continue, can bring a lot of problems to our daily activities such as increase in foodstuff, transportation fee, among other related issues.
Marketers should know that we are all Nigerians, and what goes around, comes around.
Therefore, the unity of this country is better than our own individual and selfish interest.
