Taskforce arrests 12 drug dealers, hands them over to NDLEA officials in Bauchi

The joint task force committee constituted by the emir of Katagum in Bauchi state has handed over 12 suspected drug dealers they apprehended to officials of the National Law Emforcement Agency(NDLEA) for further investigation.

The Emir of Katagum Alhaji Umar Farouq II while speaking during the handing over of the suspects, pledged the resolve of his Emirate to continue to enlighten the general public on the dangers of drug abuse.

According to him, Katagum Emirate will continue to support any effort that is geared towards curtailing the activities of drug dealers and the spread of drug abuse among the people in his domain.

Alhaji Umar farouq II Lamented the high rate of drug abuse, which he described as very destructive to lives of the users, especially youths.

He said that the bad habit is capable of retarding growth and development of a society.

The Emir appealed to all stakeholders to join in the fight against the menace of such ugly treand that is bedeveling the society.

He also called on parents to monitor the movement of their wards which he said would reduce the menace of drug abuse among youths.

Earlier speaking, Alhaji Ahmad Muhammad kwara who led the operation that saw to the arrest of the suspects, urged parents to redouble their efforts in keeping up to their responsibility of proper upbringing of their children.

He said when business of illicit substances is tackled, the young persons could not get where to buy such addictive substances, which will in turn, contain the problem.

Our Corresspondent gathered that the twelve suspects were handed over to the officers of the NDLEA along with their exibits for further investigation and legal action.
