Ahead party primaries, PDP enlightens members on electoral Act 2022

Ahead of its primary elections, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken time to enlighten its members on the operations of the electoral Act 2022 regarding conventions and primary elections.

The National organizing Secretary of PDP, Hon. Umar M. Bature in a press statement made available to newsmen in Abuja noted that section 84 (8) of the 2022 electoral act empowered delegates to vote at the indirect primaries and National conversation of political parties to select flagbearers.

According to him, such powers is restricted to only democratically elected delegates.

The statement further revealed that those that are eligible to vote as delegates in the forthcoming primaries and convention of the party are three ad-hoc delegates per ward, elected at the ward Congress as well as one National Delegates per local government Area Congress.

On the rescheduled date for primaries, the organizing secretary said the state Houses of Assembly primaries earlier scheduled for Saturday, May 21,2022 is to hold on Sunday 22nd May, 2022 from 8:00am to 12:00 afternoon.

According to him, the house of representatives primaries would hold on same day 22nd May, 2022 from 2:00pm afternoon.

The press release urged all aspirants, stakeholders, leaders as well as the teaming members of the party to notice the changes made.
