Yobe upgrades 8 Primary Healthcare Centres to General hospitals

In his untiring effort to ensure adequate and quality healthcare delivery across the state, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe has approved the upgrading of eight primary healthcare centres to the status of General Hospitals.
This new development was contained in a letter to the Yobe state Commissioner for health signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Baba Malam Wali, dated 15th June, 2022.
The letter which a copy was obtained by our Corresspondent, said that the move was in line with Governor Buni’s efforts to improve healthcare services in the state.
According to the SSG, the approval for the upgrading of the Primary Healthcare Centres was also part of the present administration of Buni’s policy of ‘one general hospital in each local government headquarters’.
The letter which was copied to the Executive Secretary, Hospital Management Board and that of the Primary Healthcare Management Agency for further action, noted that the new general hospitals are going to be managed by the Hospital Management Board.
The letter listed the Primary Healthcare Centres for the upgrade to include, PHC Center Machina, PHC Center Malam Baba, Nguru, PHC Center Yusufari, PHC Center Jajimaji and PHC Center Babangida.
Others according to the letter are; PHC Center Bara, PHC Center Buni Gari and PHC Center Yususari.
