Police arrest suspected kidnappers, armed robbers, recover, guns, N8.4m cash in Bauchi

The Bauchi state commissioner of Police, Umar Mamman Sanda has paraded suspects connected with various criminal offenses.

CP Sanda while speaking to newsmen at the State command headquarters on Tuesday, said one Abubakar Isah, aged 20 was arrested on 16/09/2022.

He said that the suspect was arrested in Tashan Daudu Soro via Ganjuwa LGA at Gobirawa axis for criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, kidnapping and being in possession of prohibited firearms and ammunition.

Exhibits recovered from the suspect according to the CP include N8.466,000.00 cash, one SMG rifle with ninety-two live ammunition, one empty magazine SMG OFN rifle and one 7.62mm caliber of live ammunitions.

The CP further informed that others include, Eight different models of phones, one MP3, one Honda Motorcycle and one Cutlass.

CP Sanda added that during the period, one fabricated AK-47 riffle with empty magazine, two Dane-gun, one Pump action JOJEFF MAGNUM, one single barrel gun and one revolver (fabricated) were recovered in a mop-up exercise by the police in Bauchi.

The police commissioner further noted that another suspected Kidnapper, Hussaini Salisu was also arrested after an exchange of gunfire with police patrol team.

“on 7/09/2022 at about 1600hrs a Patrol team attached to Maina-maji Divisional Police Headquarters in collaboration with vigilante group acted on credible intelligence and raided a suspected kidnappers’ Den”, he said.

The CP explained that, on arrival, the kidnappers opened fire on the Police operatives and while returning fire, two of the kidnappers were neutralized at the spot, while one was arrested.

The CP said Muhammadu Lawali, aged 25yrs and Dangi whose surname is yet to be known, all of Gobiya, Mundu villages of Bogoro and Dangi LGAs of Bauchi and Plateau States were the two suspects neutralized.

Exhibits recovered from their den according to CP Sanda were, one (1) AK-47 rifle and Twenty-nine live ammunition.

The Police Commissioner said that the force has not been resting on its oars in the areas of crime bursting towards ensuring adequate peace and security in the State.

“We shall not relent and we shall continue to deliver on our mandate to protect lives and properties of the people of Bauchi State by ensuring a peaceful and conducive atmosphere to enable the good people of Bauchi State to go about their normal and lawful businesses”, CP Sanda assured.

He promised to always keep members of the public abreast on the progress of the Command regularly.
