Samuel Luka, Bauchi

The newly posted Commissioner of police to Bauchi state, Alhassan Aminu has warned privately owned security outfits against appearing during Campaign processions in the name of providing security.

The CP who gave the warning during his maiden press conference at the command’s headquarters Bauchi on Tuesday, said that the warning becomes imperative in view of the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

“On Electoral matters, it is imperative to reiterate our uncompromising stance that any form of electoral disorderliness, violent behaviors, disruption of campaign rallies, display of dangerous weapons, or any illegal objects during campaign procession or electoral processes will not be condoned”, he warned.

CP Aminu further warned that anyone found wanting directly or indirectly connected with such acts will be arrested and brought to face the full wrath of the law.

“Also, with no exceptions, any state-owned security or private quasi-security outfits, planning to partake in providing security at campaigns or during elections should keep away as they have no role in the electoral Act”, he informed.

CP Aminu while thanking the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba for finding him worthy of deployment to Bauchi state, noted that his strategy will generally be integrated intelligence-led community policing.

By doing so, the CP pointed out that the strategy will transcend beyond just law enforcement to embrace human security and development services.
