Samuel Luka, Bauchi

As electorates in Bauchi state trooped to their various polling units to exercise their civic responsibility, our Corresspondent gathered that the turn out so far is very impressive.

In many polling units visited in Ningi local area of the state, voters were seen on cue undergoing accreditation and issuance of ballot papers to cast their votes.

At Mucciya polling unit, PDP agent, Khlil Bala expressed satisfaction with the voting process and the peaceful conduct of the electorates so far.

However, at Dan Lamire 2 polling unit, Ningi East and Govt day polling unit 047, an agent of PDP, Isah Adullahi PDP said they were waiting for election materials to arrive.

They said that they have complained to INEC and they have assured that the problem will be addressed.

Speaking to newsmen in Ningi, the Speaker of the Bauchi state house of assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Sulaiman expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the electorates.

He however said reports reaching him indicated that BVAS machine meant for Gumau town of Toro local government area was brought to Unguwar Wawa in Ningi.

He said most of the reports he received were minor issues that have been rectified, adding that some of the issues has to do with agents’ tags.

“One of the report I received is the mis-presentation of BVAS. A BVAS from Gumau in Toro local government was erroneously sent Unguwar Wawa unit in Ningi local government”, he said.

The speaker noted that he has spoken to the EO who assured that the problem will be rectified.

Our Corresspondent also reports that at Boi polling Unit with code number 005 in Bogoro Local Government Area, voters were already on cue at 7.25am waiting for the accreditation and voting to start.

Our Corresspondent reports that election materials were still being distributed at 8.50am in Tiffi Guda Ward of Ningi local government area of Bauchi state.

Party agents attributes late distribution of materials to scarcity of cash as transporters are reluctant in accepting bank transfer.
