Senate Presidency: Arewa Group drums support for Osita Izunaso

Ahead of the inauguration of the 10th Nigerian Senate, members of the Arewa Youths for the Sustenance of Democracy and Good Governance (AYSDGG)
have drummed support for the Senate presidential candidacy of Senator Osita Bonaventure Izunaso.
According to the Arewa youths, Senator Izunaso is the best and well prepared candidate To Serve as the 10th Senate president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The group which solicited for the support of the President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Vice, Senator Kashim Shettima, urged all Stakeholders of the All Progressive Congress APC to zone the seat of the 10th Senate to the South East for fairness and justice.
They added that by doing so, it will ensure that all part of the country are given a sense of belonging.
The further explained that since the President and his Vice comes from the South West and North East respectively, there is the pressing need to allocate the Senate Presidency to the South East.
The National President of the group, Alhaji Salihu Magaji who gave the endorsement on Tuesday in Bauchi while addressing a Press Conference, said senator Osita Bonaventure Izunaso from the South East region has all it takes to become the number three political seat of the country.
“He can salvage the fortune of the Green Chamber of the 10th National Assembly. Isunazo possessed all the essentials qualities needed to lead the Green Chamber considering his antecedent as a businessman, politician and a lawyer”, he said.
The group further maintained that what Nigerians should do as a nation is to support the emergence of Senator-elect from Imo West district, Osita Izunaso as the 10th Senate president.
Magaji who pointed out that the APC as the party that produced majority in the 10th Senate, said by the principle of Federal character and Political position balancing, for reasons of Equity, South East is meant to produce Senate President.
“The race has therefore narrowed down to the two ranking senators, Sen. Osita Izunaso whose leadership qualities is above all other interested aspirants”, Magaji noted.
He said “we don’t undermine the capacity of other aspirants but Izunaso is a Political rhinoceros of Eastern region, whose penchant for nourishing strategic relationship across the Savannah belts of the country is clearly manifest, we make bold to state that Sen. Osita Izunaso is well packaged for the plum job”, the Arewa youths said.
“He is a legal practitioner, Consultant, a philsntrpist , Political administrator, season Journalist and old ranking senators from the South East since 2007 who served in over 15 different position in the APC “Magaji said.
Magaji who said that the President-elect is known for right placement of people with qualifications in strategic positions, expressed optimisms that he will place a square pegs in square holes.
“Sen. Osita Izunaso is a bridge builder of repute, an acceptable personality across the regions and therefore understands the stakes in national interest and power equation”, Magaji said.
He said the development, achievement and legacies of Senator Isunazo cannot be over-emphasised as his presence is felt virtually in all parts of the country.
