The Bauchi Emirate council has announced the removal of Alhaji Muhammadu Bello Kirfi from his position as a Council member and the traditional title of Wazirin Bauchi.

The decision of the Emirate council which was contained in a letter addressed to the traditional title holder dated 3rd January, 2023 was Signed by the secretary of the emirate council, Alhaji Shehu Mudi Muhammad.

The letter said, Kirfi was removed from his position over disloyalty and disrespect to the governor Bala Mohammed and the government of Bauchi state.

“I am directed to refer to a letter received from the Ministry of Local Government Affairs of reference No: MLG/LG/S/72/T dated 30th December, 2022”, the letter said.

“The content of the letter indicated your disloyalty and disrespect to the Executive Governor of the State and the
government”, it added.

“It therefore directed for your removal with
immediate effect”, the letter with reference number BEC/ADM/20/VOL.XV further explained.

The letter went on to say, “in view of the above, you are hereby removed from office as Wazirin Bauchi and also as a Council Member of Bauchi Emirate”.

The emirate council wished the removed traditional title holder the best in all his future endeavours.

It can be recall that Bello Kirfi was suspended in March 2017 during Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar’s administration in a statement signed by the Information officer of the emirate council, Alhaji Salmanu Yakubu Lame.

The statement which was made available to journalists in Bauchi cited alleged disloyalty and unruly behaviour as reasons for Kirfi’s suspension which the emirate said was with immediate effect.

However, relief came his way when the present Governor Bala Mohammed presented him with a letter of reinstatement as Wazirin Bauchi from Bauchi Emirate Council at his resident in August, 2020.

The presentation of the reinstatement of Bello Kirfi was contained in a statement made available to newsmen by the then Senior Special Assistant and now Special Adviser to Governor Bala Mohammed on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Muktar Gidado.

According to Gidado, the Governor had noted that the lifting of the suspension followed intervention and wider consultations with critical stakeholders and the Emirate in particular.

The governor had also applauded the elder statesman for his patriotism, commitment and sportsmanship especially his efforts in the protection of the rights of Bauchi indigenes and Nigerians in general.
