Bauchi flags-off distribution of N2b worth Ramadan palliative

Bauchi state government has purchased grains worth two billion Naira for onward distribution across 20 Local Government Areas of the state as Ramadan palliative.
Governor Bala Mohammed of the state made this known when he flagged-off the distribution of the grains at the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa memorial stadium on Thursday.
The Governor who also announced plans for batch three of the palliation, explained: “Already, grains worth 2 billion naira have been purchased for distribution to beneficiaries for Ramadan period”.
Bala further noted that the state government is committed to ensuring that the distribution process of the Ramadan palliative is conducted with utmost transparency.
Bala Mohammed who said, monitoring committee has been set up to supervise the exercise, commended President Bola Tinubu for his swift response to the hardship confronting the citizens.
He said the collaboration between the FG and state governments is a testament to collective commitment to provide succour and solace to the citizens.
Mohammed who observed that the rising cost of foodstuffs and inflation have placed a heavy burden on the citizens, explained that as a result of genuine concern for welfare and well-being of the citizens, the state government in collaboration with the Federal Government embarked on the intervention.
The Governor disclosed that the state government has received substantial contribution from the National Emergency Management Agency.
He added that contribution has also been received from the North East Development Commission and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to ensure citizens have access to essential food items during Ramadan.
Bala Mohammed informed that, in recognition of the importance of transparency and accountability in the initiative, the state government has set up a committee with critical stakeholders as members to coordinate the distribution.
Bala Mohammed who said that the committee has been tasked on fair and transparent distribution, enjoined the entire Muslim ummah in the state to use the period of Ramadan to pray for leaders on the current economic crises.
He said that the present government under his watch in the state is ready to participate in finding lasting solutions to the challenges facing the state and the country in general.
Earlier speaking, the chairman of the Ramadan palliative distribution committee and Chief of staff, Government House, Dr Aminu Hassan Gamawa noted that the palliative would go along way in alleviating the suffering of the beneficiaries.
