The Kaura Economic Empowerment Programme (KEEP) in Bauchi is deliberately initiated by Governor Bala Mohammed led administration to salvage the people especially the unemployed from the bondages of poverty and restiveness.
Flagging-off the programme in Bogoro and Tafawa Balewa Local Government Areas of the state Monday, Governor Bala Mohammed said the programme is also geared to not only make the beneficiaries self-reliance but also employers of labour in the state.
He explained that under the programme, 250 persons are to benefit from N50, 000 palliative while another 250 others are to receive complete parks of skills acquisition materials that includes motor-cycles, tailoring machines, grinding machines and rearing animals in each Local Government.
“This programme is holistically addressing the issues of poverty and unemployment and it is very successful in the state”, revealing that very soon the Government would distribute another 1000 tricycles in addition to the first batch of 1000 at the commencement of the exercise in April this year.
“Beneficiaries of this programme are expected to pull out of poverty and contribute to the economic development of the state, and I am happy to say that they are positively contributing to the growth and development of the state”.
According to the governor, the mammoth besieging the flags-off of the programme at each and every local government is a testimony of its acceptance by the generality of the people of Bauchi.
He explained that the Government is not unmindful of the economic problems bedeviling the people, hence it’s resolve to finding solutions with a view to making the generality of people to stand on their feet.
With Monday’s flags-off, the programme has now covered six of the twenty LGAs of the state showering the sum of N300 million to the people at N50 million per local government.
Responding, the chairman of Bogoro Local Government Council, Mr Iliya Habila expressed gratitude for the inclusive governance Governor Bala Mohammed provided which ensured trust and confidence of the electorates on the elected in the state.
Habila attributed the unprecedented developmental strides recorded in the state to the conscious decision to ensure fairness, just and equitable service delivery to the state which hitherto taken back in terms of development.
