Bauchi Govt Rehabilitates 30 Commercial Sex Workers

Bauchi state ministry of women affairs, child development and social welfare has said that it has rehabilitated 30 females who engaged in commercial sex activities and reunited them with their families in the state.

The state Commissioner, Hon. Hajara Jibrin Gidado stated this during the ongoing Ministerial Briefing held at Abubakar Umar Secretariat Bauchi.

On the issue of social support, Hajara Gidado said the Ministry had also settled 280 family cases through its area of social welfare offices in the state.

She said the role of her Ministry is to mobilize, coordinate and monitor all interventions that promote and strengthen economic and political empowerment as well as the rights of women, children and vulnerable groups for sustainable development.

Hajara Gidado said her Ministry has recorded many achievements which include, distribution of farm implements to over 200 women farmers across the state, distribution of over 200 sewing machines to women groups across the state, establishment of a situational room in which all gender based violence cases were recorded.

Others, according to her, include upgrading and provision of beds, mattresses and pillows to remand home in Bauchi and Azare as well as the establishment of Aisha Bala Mohammed rehabilitation and skills training center for the released inmates of remand home among others.

The Commissioner therefore commended Governor Bala Mohammed for his numerous contributions to women Affairs matters to succeed.
