Bauchi Govt. releases over N44 million for 2023 livestock vaccination

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state has announced the release of over N44 million for the vaccination of livestock across the state this year.
The Governor who stated this while inaugurating the free vaccination exercise in Kangere town, Bauchi local government area on Monday, said the effort was meant to curb the spread of Zoonotic Diseases as well as, support massive livestock production in the state.
He directed the State Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources to ensure better remuneration of veterinarians handling the exercise for effective service delivery.
According to him, the state government in collaboration with World Bank is to construct one hundred and twenty Dams in strategic areas to address challenges of water shortage being faced by herders as well as improve dry season farming.
Governor Bala Mohammed said the move was to bring positive changes along the agricultural value chain and consolidate on the success being recorded in addressing farmers herders clashes in most parts of the state.
Also speaking, the state commissioner of Agriculture, Barrister Jidauna Tula Mbami said that the quality of the vaccine and number of the animals have been increased in this year’s exercise.
On their parts, the Bauchi State and National Leadership of Miyetti Allah, a Fulani Socio-cultural Organizations as well as community leaders, applauded the state government for the gesture.
Our correspondent reports that, part of the activities during the flag-off ceremony was the symbolic administration of the vaccine by Governor Bala Mohammed as well as words of appreciation to the state government by some of the beneficiaries of the exercise.
