Councils elections: I’m fully supporting APC candidates – Saddique Abubakar

 

… Explains reason he was absent during campaign flag-off 

The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the 2023 General elections in Bauchi state, Amb Saddique Baba Abubakar has declared that he is fully behind all the candidates of the APC in the Saturday LG Elections. 

Saddique Abubakar was reacting to insinuation about his absence during the flagg-off of the campaign of the party last week. 

Speaking to Journalists in Bauchi on Thursday, he said that, “Yes, I was not at the flagging off of campaigns for the LGA elections by the APC last week, but I sent a powerful delegation with a message that will support all the candidates of the APC.” 

While justifying his absence, he said that, “I could not attend the rally because we were in Giade receiving sympathizers over the death of our late Elder Statesman, Yerima Giade Ajiya. Because of our closeness, I had to be around with the family till they went back to Bauchi and I came back to Bauchi on Sunday after the programme.”

He added that,”Alhamdulillahi, though I was not there physically, I was there spiritually because it is a people’s event. Demonstration of our commitment to the people.”

Speaking further, he said that, “I have two messages, first, for the candidates. I pray that God will see them through, may God grant all candidates of the APC victory at the polls, both Chairmanship and Councillorship.” 

“After winning, may God grant them the grace to be fair to all and lead the people well. Election is one thing but ability to discharge responsibility well after the victory is a very big task,” he stressed. 

Saddique Abubakar added that, “To the supporters and members of the APC, I am calling on them to come out and participate in the election by casting their ballots for all APC candidates, Chairmen and councilors. I appeal for peaceful conduct before, during and after the elections.”

According to him,”APC is a party that builds, not a destructive party, therefore we want a peaceful process. I am calling on them not to betray the candidates and APC, they should avoid sellout of votes against the APC and its candidates.”

He stressed that every betrayer always live to regret his/her action of betrayal because according to him, if God is not happy with the act of betrayal and the betrayer. 

Saddique Abubakar then commiserated with the people of Bauchi State and Nigeria over the death of Yerima Aliyu Giade praying for the repose of his soul.
