Gov Bala flags-off N1.8 b 2.6km BASUG internal road

As part of effort to improve infrastructural development in the Bauchi state University Gadau, Governor Bala Mohammed of the state has awarded contract for the construction of 2.6 kilometers of internal road within the institution.

The Governor while performing the ground breaking ceremony at the main Campus of the university in Gadau on Friday, said upon completion, the state-owned University would wear a new look, feel the impact of good Governance and provide conducive Environment for learning.

He said that the services of a competent contractor, Messrs Habibu Engineering Nigerian Limited has been engaged to execute the project that would cost the state government N1,817,595,378.83.

“The project has a distance of 2.6km with stone base, Asphalt wearing course, storm water drainage and solar street lights”, Governor Bala said.

He added that the Ministry of Works and transport have been directed to closely supervise the project from its commencement to completion.

Governor Mohammed who stated that accelerated Urban and Rural life touching projects have been executed across the state’s three senatorial districts, maintained that the gesture is meant to address the yearnings and aspirations of the people of Bauchi who suffered neglect from successive governments.

“We have therefore adopted a holistic approach to reverse the trend of infrastructural deficit and decay in the State. I recently performed a ground breaking ceremony of the dualization of 11km Ningi Township Road, and I have granted approvals for the rehabilitation and construction of many other roads across the State”, the Governor said.

He said that the state government under him has always ensured adequate and consistent funding for the state-owned tertiary institutions for effective performance.

Governor Bala Mohammed added that his administration has made significant strides to enhance the welfare of students and teachers in addition to improved infrastructure across the state’s educational institutions.

“Since the inception of our administration in 2019, our commitment to education has been unwavering, and it is reflected in the various policies and programs we have implemented.

Bala Mohammed said due to the unwavering commitment of his administration since assumption of office in 2019, 5000 classrooms have been built to create conducive learning environment for the young ones.

He said to support the role of teachers, his administration has engaged them in comprehensive training and capacity-building programs.

The Governor stated that Bauchi state government has been forming partnerships with the Federal Government and donor agencies to uplift the standards of its educators.
