Governor Bala’s administration committed to Agricultural development – Deputy Auwal Jatau

The Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Rt. Honourable Mohammed Auwal Jatau has said that the present administration under Governor Bala Mohammed is highly committed to ensuring huge development in the Agricultural sector.

Rt. Hon. Jatau disclosed this when he represented the Governor at a High Performance Meeting on Agricultural Opportunities organized by the Embassy of Brazil in Nigeria in collaboration with other partners, at the Embassy’s Conference hall in Abuja.

He further reiterated the readiness of the administration of Governor Mohammed towards seeking partnership and collaboration with experts in agriculture to develop the sector.

Rt Hon Jatau who noted that Bauchi is blessed with abundant agricultural potentials, hence the need for the present administration in the state to be collaborating with the agricultural experts to modernize the system for maximum benefit.

As contained in a press statement made available to newsmen by his Special Assistant on Media, Muslim Lawal, the deputy Governor said the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed has provided the enabling environment for investment to thrive in the agricultural sector.

He expressed confidence that the collaboration with Brazilian Embassy on innovations will go along with in increasing agricultural productivity, improving food security and fostering economic growth.

According to him, “In recognition of the place of agriculture as the main employer of the majority of our people, upon assumption of office, my Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, quickly articulated a comprehensive agricultural development plan with the value proposition using our land asset to unlock the state’s industrial potentials.”

He added that, “The Governor has done so much especially the training of youths in modern farming techniques, ensuring that farmers timely access fertilizer at affordable prices, blending our own fertilizer to guarantee efficiency, affordability and employment among all in a bid to ensure agricultural development.”

Hon Jatau said Bauchi state government will look at partnering with the Brazilian embassy in order to leverage on its programmes and the promotion of transfer of its agricultural and livestock knowledge and technology for job creation and opportunities through agricultural sector.

He therefore declared the interest of the Governor and the government of Bauchi state to once again collaborate with partners and investors to reactivate the state’s own agricultural equipments and machines for agricultural production in line with best practices to enhance economic growth and development.

The Deputy Governor was accompanied to represent the Governor at the Brazil’s High Performance Meeting by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Engineer Mohammed Haruna Barde, Commissioner of Agriculture, Professor Simon Yalams, Special Adviser on Agricultural Matters, Iliyasu Aliyu Gital and the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Yakubu Jibrin.

On his part, the Deputy Head of Brazilian Embassy in Nigeria, Mr Ronaldo Lima said the high performance meeting is to discuss on the Brazilian’s agricultural opportunities for the benefit of states in Nigeria.
