Group offers free circumcision services to over 1000 male children, other health services in Bauchi

A Bauchi state based organization, Union of Volunteers and Temporary Health Workers has facilitated free circumcision services to over 1000 male children across the state.
The Chairman of the Union, Comrade Yusuf Aliyu Fada made this known while speaking at a meeting with his members during the weekend at the Tashan Babiye Health facility within the state capital.
“We have carried out several free medical health care services despite being volunteer health workers who have no salary by raising funds from our pockets. We did this services within one year to humanity in Dadin Kowa, Banbaro, Rundo shuwa IDP camp, Sabon Garin Duguri, among several villages”, he said.
Fada said; “we conducted free circumcision to over one thousand male children across 20 local government areas of Bauchi state in partnership with Madarasin Koyo da Koyaswa ta Addinin Musulunci and Salisiyya movement”.
He said that the union has at a time, embarked on the creation of awareness on the negative impact of COVID-19 by organizing a public lecture that was facilitated by professor Jibrin, the Chief medical director of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) Bauchi.
According to him, the union has within the period under review, organised a one day workshop for over 50 of its members to boost their knowledge in the area of provision of quality healthcare services to the citizens.
He said so far, the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital has allocated job slots for the members of the union.
“I can tell you that, of the 6 job slots, we were able to submit the CV of our bonafide members after been called by the CMD to do so. I want to assure you that among the 6 members we submitted their CVs there no single Exco member”, Fada said.
Aliyu Fada who decried that the state government has not deemed it fit to carry members of the association along in its policies and programs, said that the association is operating with the little tokens obtainable from members as dues.
He said despite the numerous humanitarian services being rendered to vulnerable members of the society and hospitals across 20 local government areas of the state, his members have not been considered for appointment in the state civil Service.
