Monthly Sanitation: BASEPA Impressed With the Level of Compliance, Call for More Support and Cooperation.

Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency BASEPA has expressed appreciation with the level of compliance by the general public during the conduct of the monthly sanitation exercise within the metropolis.

The Director, Inspection, Enforcement and Compliance Mohammed Usman Sale stated this while answering questions from newsmen at the end of the exercise.

Mr Sale, who represent the Director General of the Agency Dr Ibrahim Kabir said, the level of compliance was really appreciable, especially in some communities, whom, despite of the rainfall, engaged themselves in sanitising their environment.

He also commended the road users for their conduct during the exercise and call for more more support and cooperation from the general public to achieve the target objectives.

On the issue of drainages desilting, the Director said, the Agency introduce a new initiative tagged, “MY PREMISES, MY DRAINAGES” where, people are enjoined to desilt drainages in front of their Houses or business premises and the Agency will be responsible for evacuating the garbage

According to him the Agency will be responsible on no man’s drainages, those in front of public places such as Schools, Hospitals or Offices.

He also call on the people to avoid erecting their buildings on water ways, arbitrate violations of building plans or dumping of refuse in the drainage saying they are the major factors that causes flooding and it attendant consequences.

During the conduct of the exercise, the Director, alongside other management staff of the Agency went round the metropolis to monitor the exercise.
