NUC’s resource verification team visits newly established federal university of health sciences Azare

The Resource verification team of the National University Commission (NUC) on Monday visited the newly established federal university of health sciences Azare in Bauchi state.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after carrying out their assessment, the Director of Academic Planning at the National University Commission (NUC) Abuja, Dr Nura Salihu, commended the Pioneer Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Bala Mohammed Audu and his team for making frantic efforts to ensure the timely take-off of academic activities.
Dr. Nura who said that the federal medical center Azare could be the teaching hospital for the new university, noted that they will require a memorandum of understanding with the university to that effect.
“On the other hand, the federal ministry of health may decide to convert the medical center to a teaching hospital on its own completely for the university”, he explained.
“So, coming here, talking about the facilities, I think what I formerly informed some members of the team is that the structure here is well structured, I meant the quality of the structure is there and I quite personally, I am quite impressed about what I see here at the federal medical center”, the Director planning of the NUC said.
He added: “We try to go round, particularly for the nursing program, the team that I followed, nutrition and dietetics Programme, I was fully impressed about what is existing in the hospital. I know that what they have can serve adequately as a teaching hospital for the federal university of health sciences Azare”.
Dr. Nura advised the host communities to know that the presence of the University will no doubt transform their area and support the management of the University to succeed.
“Now that Azare has become a host area for a university, they should know that the university needs them to succeed by providing the enabling environment for the university to thrive and become one of the best in the world”, Dr. Nura advised.
He also appealed to the host communities to ensure that they render whatever support the university needs from them to enable the university operate as an excellent university.
Dr Nura who urged the host communities to take ownership of the University as a pride to them, equally advised that they should be ready to accommodate people coming in from different backgrounds.
On his part, the Pioneer Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Health Sciences Azare, Professor Bala Mohammed Audu thanked the team for the visit.
He assured of the commitment of the University management under his leadership towards ensuring the smooth take-off of the institution.
