N’wide Protest: NSCDC tasks officers on proper weapon handling

Ahead of the planned Nationwide protest in August, officers and men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have been cautioned against mishandling of weapons while providing security to the protesters and the society.
The Corps Commandant, Bauchi State Command, Ilelaboye Oyejide who gave the task while addressing personnel from different formations of the corps on Tuesday in Bauchi, urged the personnel to provide foolproof security for critical national assets and infrastructures.
Mr. Oyejide who also rolled out the Standard Operating Procedures SoP for officers and men deployed for the operations, urged the personnel to be diligent and professional in arms handling as well as civil during the protest.
He warned that the Corps will not condone any trigger-happy personnel or any intimidation and harassment of members of law abiding civilians.
According to him, “while being civil in the discharge of your duty, also be firm against criminally-minded people”.
The Commandant further called on parents to guard their wards and children against engaging in an act that would disrupt the current peace been experienced in the society.
