Pockets of security breaches in Alkaleri LG worry Bauchi Governor, urges Community vigilance

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi has expressed deep concerns over pockets of security breaches in Alkaleri local government area of the state.
The Governor who was in Sabongari village, Alkaleri local government area of Bauchi state to sympathize with the people of the community over the recent attacks by bandits, reiterated the need for prayers community vigilance.
Bala Mohammed who called on the citizens to pray for peace, urged them to join hands with the security agencies by being proactive to ensure that banditry did not thrive in the state.
Accompanied by the state Commissioner of Police, Umar Mamman Sanda and top governement officials, Bala expressed concerns that if such security breaches are left unchecked, the relative peace being enjoyed in the state would be eroded.
The Governor who said that the recent attacks by bandits in the hitherto peaceful Bauchi state were becoming rampant, charged citizens to be on the alert.
Bala noted that the security agencies cannot defeat bandits alone without the support of the locals, adding that community members need to always report suspicious activities or movements of strange invidiuals to relevant authorities.
The Governor promised to strengthen relationship between communities and the security agencies, particularly the police, in order to further maintain the hitherto place enjoyed in the state.
The governor described Maryam Mohammed who was killed while preventing the bandits from killing her son as a heroine, maintaining that her death was not in vain.
Governor Mohammed charged the police and other sister security agencies to always ensure prompt response to distress call and information from residents to forestall future reoccurrence.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of Alkaleri Local Government Area, Yusuf Garba, disclosed that the bandits infiltrated communities in the area through border neighbouring communities of Plateau and Taraba States.
Garba thanked the Governor for the visit and urged residents of Alkaleri to continue to be proactive in terms of security.
On his part, the Bauchi state police commissioner, Umar Mamman Sanda appealed to residents to always provide the police with information that would help in addressing crimes and other criminal activities.
It can be recall that recent attacks on some Communities in Alkaleri local government area had led to the death of four people with others sustaining various degrees of injury.
Few days after the incident in Alkaleri, bandits kidnapped a village head and his son in a commmunity in Toro local government area of the state.
