Police kill five suspected armed robbers/kidnappers, recover 3 AK 47 rifles, others in Bauchi

Bauchi state police command has announced the killing of five suspected armed robbers/kidnappers who engaged its operatives in a shootout.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent of Police (SP), Ahmed Mohammed Wakil who made this known while briefing newsmen on Thursday evening, said three AK 47 rifles, one SMG rifle, three empty magazine, 105 rounds of live ammunition and one cutlass were recovered from the gang.
SP Wakil who addressed the a press conference on behalf of the Commissioner of Police in the state, Auwal Musa Muhammad, said that the incident occurred in the night hours of 29th August 2023, on the outskirts of Jamaare town.
He explained that a combined team of Operatives in conjunction with a quasi-security outfit under the mandate of Operation Restore Peace (ORP) had encountered the suspected Kidnappers/bandits in Jamaare while carrying out routine surveillance.
According to the PPRO, the operatives who raided the hideout of the heavily armed suspected criminal gang, suddenly came under gunfire but upon returning fire, five of the gang leaders were killed while the remaining gang members fled.
“In furtherance to our avowed commitment to stem the tide of crime and criminalities in the state, the command under the courageous leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Muhammad psc has carried out several audacious operations which in turn yielded positive results”, SP Wakil said.
According to him, the operations have led to a series of crime bursting success within the month such engaging Kidnappers/Bandits.
SP Wakil further said that operatives have during a night time hours secured the release of one Emeka Asogwa of Itas-Gadau LGA who was kidnapped to an unknown destination.
He said the rescue of the victim from the grip of the kidnappers followed an information at the disposal of the command on 30th August 2023.
SP Wakil added that the command was informed at about 0221hrs that a group of armed men numbering about ten (10) invaded the house of one Emeka Asogwa of Itas-Gadau LGA, and kidnapped him to an unknown destination and collected the sum of N10 million ransom.
He said on receipt of the report, a team of detectives in collaboration with local security hunters swung into action and rescued the kidnapped victim immediately.
The PPRO said a manhunt has been initiated by the police to arrest the culprits
