Governor Bala congratulates christians on Easter, says Nigeria’s current hardship a temporary setback

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state has felicitated with Christians on the occasion of this year’s Easter celebrations, describing the current economic hardship bedeviling Nigeria as a temporary setback.

The Governor who made this known in his goodwill message to christiana, expressed confidence that the situation would be overcomed in no distant future.

Bala Mohammed enjoined christian faithfuls to imbibe the virtues of Jesus Christ and put them into practice, saying that Easter is observed annually by Christians to commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

“I wish to extend my warm regards and felicitation to our Christian brothers and sisters on the occasion of this year’s Easter”, the goodwill message signed by the Spacial Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Comrade Mukhtar Gidado said.

“During his life time, Jesus Christ preached peace, honesty and love for one another. I therefore enjoin you all to imbibe these virtues and put them into practice irrespective of your religious inclination”, the Governor said.

Governor Mohammed appealed for sober reflection and self-evaluation by all, with a view to knowing how well they relate with their creator and fellow human beings during the last one year and make amends where necessary.

The Governor who stated that Bauchi State and the country as a whole need peace and unity now more than ever, maintained that Nigerians cannot afford to allow themselves to be divided along religious or ethnic divides.

“We must allow peace to reign in order to make progress. I would therefore like to call on you all to live harmoniously with one another irrespective of ethnic, religious or political differences”, Mohammed added.

The Governor further appealed to all Nigerian to imbibe the spirit of love for one another, forgiveness and mutual respect.

“We must see ourselves as one and the same people irrespective of our ethno-religious heterogeneity. There is also the need for continued prayers to God for the current relative peace in the State to be sustained”, the Governor said.

The Governor while reiterating his administration’s irrevocable commitment to the maintenance of law and order, said measures have been taken to ensure the safety of lives and property of the people of the State.

Mohammed who further appealed for continued understanding and support to his government in its effort to ensure a peaceful Bauchi, vowed to leave no stone unturned towards mitigating the current hardship being experienced across the country.

He said that the state government has provided foodstuffs as a palliative measure to cushion the effect of the hardship, promising not to relent until the situation improves.
