President Buhari appoints Emir of Argungu as FUHSA Chancellor

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of His Royal Highness, the Emir of Argungu, Kebbi state, Alhaji Samaila M. Mera as the Chancellor, Federal University of Health Sciences Azare in Katagum local government area of Bauchi state.

This was contained in a letter signed by the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu with reference number FME/HME/Vol.1/237.

The letter, dated 11th April, 2023 was titled: ‘Appointment as Chancellor, Federal University of Health Sciences Azare, Bauchi state.

“I write to convey the approval of His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, for your appointment as Chancelor, Federal University of Health
dences, Azare, Bauchi State”, the letter reads.

The appointment letter was co-addressed to the Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission, Abuja, informed that, “the Chancellor shall, in relation to the University, take precedence before-
other members of the University and, when he is present, shall preside at all meetings of Convocation held for conferring degrees”.

“This clearly means that the Chancellor, as the most important official in the University system, is the symbol and spirit of the institution, a moral compass, giving shape and direction to the university administration”, the letter further explained.

The letter pointed out that the Chancellor shall be presented to the university community and a wider public at a specially organized Investiture Ceremony or at the next convocation of the Institution when the Investiture of the Chancellor will precede the event.
