Recent Sports festival records huge success due to Gov Bala’s commitment to sports development – Commissioner

The Bauchi State Commissioner of Youth and Sports Development, Mohammed Salis Gamawa disclosed that the just concluded Sport festival succeeded as a result of Governor Bala Mohammed’s commitment to youth and sports development.
Honourable Gamawa who disclosed this while addressing sports writers at the Bauchi state NUJ Secretariat on Monday, explained that the sports festival which took place in the state about two weeks ago was planned to strengthen sporting activities in the state.
The Commissioner added that the huge success recorded during the sports festival is an indicator that sporting activities has bounced back in line with Governor Bala Mohammed’s project tagged: “My Bauchi Project”.
He said that the state government has developed a marketing strategy for the Wikki Tourists Football Club to enable it stand out in terms of prosecuting its games ahead of the 2024/2025 football season coming up in August.
Salis Gamawa expressed optimisms that with marketing strategy put in place , the Club will bounce back and regain its position within the comity of football league in Nigeria.
Honourable Gamawa said, Wikki Tourists FC, owned by the Bauchi state government has been rebranded to stand as a Club to be reckoned with, as Nigeria is soon to kick off the 2024/2025 football season in August this year.
The Commissioner regretted that some of issues that stood against the Club before now were related to contracts that were not properly done.
He however, expressed delight that all the issues have been addressed at the end of the last season.
Hon Gamawa reiterated confindence in the Management of Wikki Tourist Club to excel in the new season having planned things itself unlike last season when the Management was reconstituted midway.
He further stressed that the plan is to make Wikki Tourists FC a brand that will attract more investment from outside the country as it will play a different brand of football that is well appreciated in the global scene.
The Commissioner maintained that by the time the new football season is kicked off, sports lovers would see a brand new Wikki Tourists FC becoming entertaining and rewarding.
“The Club Chairman will have positive stories to tell you if you invite him to come here.” Hon Gamawa assured.
He expressed trust that Wikki Tourists FC will not miss promotion to the elite league at the end of the next football season.
