Security operatives kill eight kidnappers, rescue 3 hostages

No fewer than eight suspected kidnappers/bandits have been killed by operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command in conjunction with Hunters group.
SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bauchi state Command made this known in a crime bulletin he shared to newsmen on Thursday.
According to him, the operatives also successfully rescued three kidnapped victims during the operation.
He said that the operation was carried out on 22nd April 2024, following credible information made available to the Command regarding suspicious activities near the State border between Bauchi and Plateau States.
He said: “The detectives deployed from Gumau, Tilde, and Tulu Divisions encountered armed bandits during their routine patrol and engaged in a firefight in self-defence, resulting in the neutralization of four (4) suspected kidnappers”.
SP Wakil explained that two of the suspects in their eleventh hour, who later died, confessed to multiple kidnapping incidents across Bauchi and Plateau States.
The PPRO added that the kidnappers confessed that they were responsible for the heinous killing of a village head in Ruruwai village, Lame district, Toro LGA, Bauchi State, on 17th March 2024.
“Based on the information provided by the late suspects, the detectives proceeded to the kidnappers’ hideout to rescue three kidnapped victims from Dokayel village, who were taken captive on 20th April 2024”, he said.
SP Wakil said during the subsequent firefight with the remaining accomplices guarding the hostages, four other kidnappers were neutralized.
He informed that the three (3) captives were safely rescued without any ransom paid.
SP Wakil said that the Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Auwal Musa Muhammad commended the officers and men involved for their heroism and professionalism during the operation.
The PPRO who said that the CP encouraged the operatives to continue their efforts in maintaining law and order, appealed to general public to trust and cooperate with the police by providing useful information and remain vigilant.
According to the CP, the successful operation is a testimony to the commitment and dedication of the Command to protect the lives and properties of the citizens.
