Northern youth group drums support for endorsement of PDP presidential consensus candidates

A group known as United Arewa Youth For justice and Development has declared support for the Professor Ango Abdullahi led Northern Elders Forum (NEF) which endorsed the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Muhammed and former Senate President, Bukola Saraki as Northern presidential consensus candidates of the PDP ahead its primaries for the 2023 presidential contest.
The endorsement was contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Bauchi at the weekend by the Director Public Affairs of the group, Suleiman Abubakar.
The statement said that the United Arewa youth For justice and Development as a representative of the young people are in the same page with Professor Ango Abdullahi and other Elders in the North over the endorsement of Bala and Saraki as PDP consensus candidates for the North.
“We Wish to make it public that we are on the same page with our elders on this important national assignment that will help the north to give Nigerian one of our best for the most important office of the land to guide against the mistakes of 2015 and 2019”, they said.
“As we embark on the second phase of this critical assignment where the two aspirants chosen by the elders would work together with support of other major stakeholders and decide on which of them to emerge as sole consensus PDP northern presidential candidate”, the Youth group further explained.
The group which expressed believe that the three criteria used by the elders, pointed out that further assessment would reveal that the Northeast in term of zonal assessment should have been considered.
They pointed out that since the era of former Prime minister, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa not a single individual from the zone either as military or civilian have rule the country.
“Serious factors such as eguity, Justice and fairness should not be ignored in any attempt as we continue on this historic efforts”, the youth appealed.
They said with Bala Muhammed as northern consensus candidate, the rest of Nigerians will understand that as northerners we have done justice to ourselves because Bala is a detriblized leader.
According to the statement, Senator Bala Mohammed is someone who has been tested and trusted as former minister of the federal capital territory and an achiever per excellence as incumbent governor of Bauchi.
The youth commended Governor Bala Mohammed for his Commitment and the demonstration of readiness he has exhibited since his endorsement by the Northern Elders to lead discussion with all the aspirants in the PDP with a view to having a national consensus.
The statement which described such committment and readiness as encouraging, noted that, it has clearly shown that the Bauchi Governor is the man for the job if the North truly want to succeed.
