Yobe Varsity Inferno: Prof Daura Commends Gov Buni for Prompt Action.

The Vice Chancellor of Yobe State University, Professor Mala Mohammad Daura has commended the Governor Mai Mala Buni led administration for its prompt response on the fire incident at Female Hoste ‘A’ of the institution which occured at about 7:00pm on Tuesday 13th February, 2024.

The Vice Chancellor gave the commendation when he received the Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Honourable Idi Barde Gubana at the VC’s office yesterday.

Prof Daura appreciated Gov Buni’s effort through the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), adding that “SEMA emergency rescue team was at the scene of the incidence and did the needful.”

The Vice Chancellor confirms that all students were safety evacuated and that no life was lost to the inferno. He however directed that students affected by the trauma of the incidence be admitted to the University Clinic and another medical facility outside the University.

“Although the immediate cause of the inferno is still unknown, we are working closely with the Security Division and Fire Service of the University to unravel the cause of this disaster and also to map out strategy to prevent further occurrence”, Daura said.
