SBU-Vanguard refutes terrorism allegations on Sen. Buba, considers legal remedy

A group loyal to Senator Shehu Buba Umar of Bauchi South senatorial district has while refuting allegations of terrorism link levelled against him in a viral video, vowed to pursue legal remedies against those responsible for creating and disseminating the defamatory material.

The group under the platform of Senator Buba Umar (SBU vanguard stated this in a press statement circulated to newsmen in Bauchi on Thursday.

Signed by its Director General, Engineer Ishaq S. Dabo, the group denied the allegations which indicated that the senator has ties with a terror group, describing it as “entirely untrue” and a “deliberate attempt to smear the reputation of the senator ahead of the 2027 polls.

The statement further described the viral video making the allegations as “fabricated and malicious”, stressing that the senator has a long record of advocating for peace and dialogue.

The SBU-Vanguard which cited the senator’s work with Islamic clerics and community leaders to restore peace in affected communities, urged the public to remain calm and not share or amplify unverified material.

The group also appealed to the media organizations and social media platforms to investigate and remove the video.

The statement quoted the Senator as saying, “I have always stood for peace and the wellbeing of our people. I reject these baseless attacks and will continue my work for the people of Bauchi South.”
