A grassroot politician and member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Misau Local Government Area, Hon. Ahmed Tijjani Ibrahim has joined the nation’s “Back to School” campaign by donating over 1,500 exercise books to support underprivileged students in the area.
The donation event was held on Sunday at the Chartwell Indoor Hall, Misau.
In his address, Hon. Tijjani stated that the donation was part of his contribution to improving education in his constituency and the local government at large.
“We donated these 1,500 exercise books to nursery, primary, and secondary school students to assist children of the less privileged,” Tijjani said.
He lamented that the once-common tradition of politicians and community leaders distributing school materials had declined.
“We must ask ourselves why. Government officials and elected representatives can afford to do this, but many have chosen not to. That is why I am stepping in to restart this initiative, and I urge others to do the same,” he added.
Hon. Tijjani appealed to parents and students to use the materials responsibly, emphasizing that they were meant solely for educational purposes.
He officially handed over the books through the Chairman of the APC Elders Committee, Misau Chapter, Alhaji Babaji Kadai, to the Chairman of Facebook Connect, Misau Emirate.
The event was successfully held and received widespread commendation from residents across Misau, who appreciated the gesture and called for more community-driven initiatives.
