Conduct Yourselves Within Ambit of the Law – Police tells intending protesters

Ahead of the planned August 1st Nationwide protest, intending protesters in Bauchi have been advised to conduct themselves within the ambit of the law in the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Police Command, Auwal Mohammed Musa gave the advice in a press statement made available to newsmen by the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil on Tuesday.
According to the statement, CP Auwal has in anticipation of the impending protest, collaborated with other sister security agencies to put in place extensive security measures to safeguard lives and property.
SP Wakil said that the command and the sister security agencies have deployed tactical teams, uniformed and plainclothes personnel in addition to intelligence assets to protect areas that may be vulnerable to potential disruptions.
The Command urged all groups intending to participate in the protest to provide their essential details to the Commissioner of Police in the interest of peace and security.
“This information should outline the proposed protest routes and assembly points, the expected duration of the protest, the names and contact details of protest leaders and organizers, as well as measures to prevent any criminal elements from hijacking the peaceful protest”, the statement added.
It said that the Bauchi state police command alongside other sister security agencies is fully prepared to address any potential disruptions.
The police while emphasizing the importance of upholding peace and stability within the state, advised citizens and residents against engaging in activities that may threaten public peace.
CP Musa urged members of the public not to relent in providing useful information that will assist in making the state secured, promising treatment of information given with absolute confidentiality.
