Tension : Youth group kicks against marking late Gonto’s 21st Memorial Anniversary in Bauchi

A Youth group under the auspices of Mwari Youth Development Association (MWAYODA) has kick
against marking Late Baba Peter Gonto’s 21st Memorial anniversary to avert breach of peace in Zaar Community of Bogoro and Tafawa Balewa local government areas of Bauchi state.
Our correspondent report that late Peter ‘Baba Gonto 21st Memorial Anniversary’ was scheduled to take place on 31st December, 2021
Comrade Madalla Yakubu, Chairman MWARI Youth Development Association stated this at a press conference at NUJ press Center Bauchi on Tuesday in Bauchi
He said MWAYODA was not in support of the memorial anniversary of late Baba Gonto
“We reached an agreement that since the event is not organized by either ZDA OR COUNCIL of Gung Zaar Select,
“it means it’s something that we have no role to play unless otherwise, because it’s purely a family business. We made reference to a clean and unbiased memorial programme.
“Visible on the invitation card, one will notice that many prominent names of Zaar sons and daughters are missing,” Yakubu said.
He added that Notable of all, is the deliberate refusal to recognise the most important figure in the land, the Paramount Ruler of our people, Gung Zaar Select and his council on the host of dignitaries that will grace the occasion.
According to him, we reiterate with a loud voice that we reject in totality the event as we foresee a great crisis and disunity in the land from a programme based on the desperation of the organizers.
“We unequivocally state that, the Organizers should be held responsible for any breach of peace that may occur in Zarland as a result of the event.
He pointed out that the organizers of such should be made to sign an undertaking with the security agencies as we used to do during the Zaar annual festival.
Yakubu condemned the so called MWARI Concerned Youth Forum for organising a press conference on the need to go ahead with the Anniversary celebrations
“As the mother body of MWARI Youth Development Association we totally condemned their decision, More so such a union is not recognized by MWARI Youth.
Comrade Yakubu however calls on the Bauchi govt and all the relevant security agencies to ensure that Peace reigns in the Community by suspending the event for now in order to avert any breach of the peace.
