A Reminder To Federal Goverment
By A.U Angayau
I write to remind and re-appeal to the Federal Government of Nigeria of its promise to rehabilitate the a forementioned road as it was pledged almost two years ago. It will be recalled that this project was awarded sometime in December 2019. But right from the day this very project was approved by FG during a FEC meeting chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari, to date it hasn’t commenced. And the people who use this road on a daily basis continue to suffer, especially during this rainy season.
Furthermore, this road belonged to the Bauchi state government before, but it was later transferred to the federal government as requested by former member representing Alkaleri/Kirfi constituency, Hon. Dr. Muhammad Sani Abdu PhD, and ex lawmaker from the Bauchi state house of assembly representing Duguri/Gwana constituency, Hon. Dr. Ibrahim Bala Hassan. The fact that FG is using this road in performing its Crude Oil search in Alkaleri LGA, they quickly accepted the request and promised to reconstruct the road.
“We celebrated, heard this development and prayed for its possibility.”
But to our greatest surprise, right from the day this project was approved to date, we have been expecting to see companies like Triacta or Julius Berger, etcetera but all to no avail. We see an engineer or contractor sent from the Federal Ministry of Works, who may have come to access the road for the project to begin.
More so, we have made several calls, crying out that the project ought to begin before the rainy season, so as to ease the suffering of people using this road, but nobody could hear our cries.
We have a senator and a member of the house of representatives whom we sent to represent our voice, but they failed to do their assignment despite knowing very well how things went on this road.
We pray and hope FG will come to our rescue on this road.
