ADVOCACY TO THE PRESIDENT FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF NATIONAL AGENCY FOR PRICE CONTROL (NAPC)

The hardship that Nigerians are enduring today as a result of the hike in commodity prices is overwhelming and over bearing. Nigerians are patient people but they are being pushed to the wall. People only look for money to eat not anything. A lot of countries will neither condone nor tolerate this. Majorly; this hike comes as a result of lack of any regulatory agency to reasonably regulate the prices of commodities. Nigerians are left in the hands of marketers to deal with them as they want. Imagine a measure of sugar N, 4000.00, it is made from sugarcane which is cultivated in the country and sugar produced in Nigeria. Imagine a measure of local rice N 2, 500.00, Spaghetti – 10, 400.00 per carton, measure of millet, sorghum all in the range of N 1, 000.00. I think this really calls for regulations on the part of the government. The President should listen to this voice of reason and establish a regulatory agency that will regulate all commodities being sold in Nigeria.
