Barely weeks after the Governorship elections in Bauchi state, a group known as the Coalition For Action in Re-building APC has called on the Gubernatorial candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Haliru Dauda Jika to return to the APC in the interest of the party.
Addressing newsmen at the APC Secretariat in Bauchi on Monday, the spokesperson of the group, Umar Farouk Bala said that the main objective of the group is to unify the party and re-strategize against 2027.
He added that the group was conceived out of the sudden abysmal performance of the party in the just concluded general elections where the party polled far below the number of both federal and State legislative Assembly seats it scored in 2019.
He said that the group comprises of seasoned politicians that cut across Youth activists, Veteran political leaders of various strata, leaders of Civil Society Organizations, Youth and Women groups.
Umar said that the party decided to unite in order to initiate the clarion call to Senator Haliru Dauda Jika to kindly consider the vistaz of Bye-gone and make a U-turn to his party the APC, for a new beginning.
“We wholeheartedly respect and Honour Senator Haliru Dauda Jika rigth to his personal decision in politics. We wish to state categorically clear that, we do not share his decision of leaving the APC to the opposition party where he participated in the gubernatorial race of 2023”, they said.
While describing Jika as one of the very few exceptional leaders whose contributions to APC is beyond measure, the group expressed optimisms that Hon. Jika will not take part in destroying the house he helped in constructing with his sweat and hard labour.
“We remain solidly and firmly on this noble initiation and we will continue to appeal to Dojakin Bauchi to persevere in Patience and come back home to partake in the effort of salvaging the soul of the party from dying”, they said.
The group vowed to use all available machineries at their disposal to reach out to Jika as well as take the matter to those who matter most in the affairs of APC nationally.
“We are going to work assiduously along with our teeming supporters across the nooks and corners of the state for the success and victory of our party in future elections”, they noted.
The group expressed hope that Hon. Haliru Dauda Jika will respect the dignity of innocent hardworking members of the APC who still feel the pain of missing his contributions to the party’s success and return to the APC.
“We are still hopeful that our stolen mandate of various positions in the last elections which was characterized by election malpractices are going to be reclaimed back by the court of competent jurisdictions.
The group said, it is extending the hands of friendship to all like-minds to join them in the struggle for an egalitarian APC in the state devoid of any internal differences.
