Air force personnel urged to ensure constant physical, mental fitness

In order to enhance professionalism, personnel of the Nigerian Air force have been charged to maintain constant physical and mental fitness.

Air Officer Commanding (AOC) Special Operations Command, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Abubakar Abdulkadir, made the call at the Nigerian Air Force Base Bauchi during the 2022 annual 10km walk/ Jog exercise on Saturday in Bauchi.

According to him, physical fitness would enhance troops combat readiness, especially at this time the Armed Forces of Nigeria are being confronted with security challenges to fight.

“We must not relent in our effort at ensuring that physical fitness occupies an enviable place in the service as well as enhancing professionalism, the AOC said.

Represented by AVM Usman Abdullahi, Chief of Staff, Special Operations Command, the AOC noted that the exercise was aimed at continually promoting comradeship and esprit de corps among personnel.

He added that the exercise was also meant to promote physical and combat fitness to enhance NAF operations.

Speaking during the exercise, Special Adviser to Gov Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state on Security matters, Brig. Gen. Markus Koko Yake, enjoined the personnel to always involve in physical and mental exercise for operational readiness.

He commended the NAF for supporting the state Government and other security agencies towards sustenance of the existing peace in Bauchi.

He said that the state government would continue to maintain support and good working relationship with security agencies in order to sustain the current peaceful co-existance in the state.

The exercise which featured the presentation of awards to the 3 best Personnel, paramilitary, officers wives, Corps Members and dependants also had other security agencies as participants.

They include Customs, Civil Defense, National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, Police , Immigration Services, Department of Security Services, Federal Road Safety Corps, among others.
