Bala inaugurates LG Caretaker Chairmen, warned against corruption, indolence

Bala Mohammed, the Governor of Bauchi state yesterday, inaugurated the 20 local government Caretaker Committee Chairman recently approved by the state assembly as requested by him.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony at the multipurpose indoor sports hall, the Governor sternly warned the local government chief executives against indulging in any form of corrupt practices.

Bala informed that the present administration has no place for corrupt, disloyal, indolent and incompetent officials.

According to the governor, as such the new LG Caretaker Committee Chairmen should be absolutely loyal to his Government and be totally committed to its objectives.

The governor who sworn in the 20 LG Chairmen and their deputies, tasked them to provide good governance at the grassroots.

He charged them to strive to justify the confidence reposed in them by rededicating themselves to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people through effective and efficient service delivery.

Bala reminded them that his administration attaches great importance to probity, accountability and strict adherence to Due Process in governance, hence the need for them to be judicious in handling the finances of their Local Governments.

The Governor directed the new Local government chairmen to pay priority attention to the improvement of internally generated revenue (IGR) of their Local Government Areas in order to augment their income from the Federation Account.

“I wish to express my gratitude and appreciation to the former Local Government Caretaker Committees Chairmen along with their Councilors for creditably discharging their duties. It is their impressive performances that informed the reappointment of most of them”, he said.

“For the avoidance of doubt, let me clearly state that I will not hesitate to remove any Chairman found wanting or being disloyal to the Government or our great party, the PDP”, Governor Bala further warned.

He urged the Caretaker Committee Chairmen to work hand in hand with their Councilors and Managements as well as cooperate with the Security Agencies, traditional, Religious and Party Leaders, including Stakeholders within their domains for positive impact on the lives of the citizens.

In a vote of thanks on behalf of his colleagues, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Giade, Usman Mohammed promised to remain focus in ensuring effective service delivery in line with the vision of the present administration.
