Bauchi assembly receives names of 24 commissioner-nominees from Bala for screening

The Bauchi state house of assembly has received a list of 24 commissioner- nominees for approval from the state Governor, Bala Mohammed.

As contained in a summary of the assembly’s Monday plenary made available to newsmen by the spokesperson of the speaker, Comrade Abdul Ahmad Burra, the Governor requested that the assembly screen and confirm the nominees for appointment as Commissioners.

Comrade Burra said that the Monday plenary was presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y. Suleiman, during which the assembly received message from the Governor requesting for the screening and confirmation of the nominees in line with the provision of the 1999 Constitution.

The Speaker’s spokesperson said that the Governor’s message was presented before the assembly the Majority Leader of the House Hon. Saleh Hodi Jibir.

The summary of the plenary said Hon. Barr. Habibu Umar representing Kirfi Constituency suggested that the nominees be screened on 2nd, 3rd, and 4th of August, 2023 and was seconded by Hon. Lawan Dauda of Sade Constituency.

According to Comrade Abdul Ahmad Burra, the motion was adopted by the house after the Speaker put the motion to a voice vote.

The house members agreed that the nominees be screened on 2nd, 3rd and 4th of August 2023.

The Commissioner nominees include, Maiwada Bello (Geo Barrister) and Ibrahim Gambo from Alkaleri, Mahmoud Babamaji Abubakar and Hon. Danlami Ahmed Kawule from Bauchi, Tsammani Lydia Haruna (Bogoro), Ahmed Sarki Jalam (Dambam), Yakubu Ibrahim Hamza (Darazo), Usman Santuraki (Dass) and Abdul Hassan (Ganjuwa).

Others are; Muhammad Salees (Gamawa), Dr. Yakubu Adamu (Giade), Usman Abdulkadir Moddibo (Jama’are), Hajara Jibrin Gidado (Itas/Gadau), Hon. Farouk Mustapha (Katagum) and Hajara Yakubu Wanka from Kirfi.

The rest are; Aminu Hammayo (Misau), Hassan El-Yakub SAN (Ningi), Muhammad Hamisu Shira (Shira), Prof. Simon Madugu Yalams and Abubakar Abdulhamid Bununu (Tafawa Balewa), Jamila Muhammad Dahiru, Dr. Adamu Umar Sambo (Toro), Abdulrazak Nuhu Zaki (Warji) and Amina Muhammad Katagum from Zaki local government area.
